Fabric Flower Pins
So these are two flower pins/broaches that I made for a friend of mine.
The fabric came from a dress I have that had pockets which I was not fond of. I sewed them shut and of course, I could not bear to throw fabric away!
I cut and sewed the fabric scraps into a long strip and then gathered the strip until it resembled a flower. I hand stitched this together and glued a pin on the back and voila!

Rug made from recycled towels
In this project, I got the idea from the threadbanger.com Tutorial to make a rug from recycled bath towels. I cut strips of the towels and wove and sewed them together.
This was a very easy project but the only problem I had was cleaning up all the fluff that came off the fabric during cutting.
Note: that area may get a little messy : )
I really like how it turned out.

Green Fairy Costume

Halloweeny
This year I decided to make my own costume which is nothing new, last year I made my own costume although it was very last minute and not too elaborate.
I just made a skirt with an long lace tail and applied an applique on it and made a scarf. Once I put on my mask, I was transformed into a peacock!
This year I am being a green pixie fairy girl inspired by tinkerbell. I am working on the last minute details tonight and am very excited to finish and wear it out. I used the tutorial from ThreadBanger to make the wings, I would recommend it, it is very easy to do!

As for now, I must get back to work but I will post some pictures of the finished costume soon.
Happy Halloween!

My Introduction
This is my first post into the blogosphere. I really love sewing and have since I was in middle school. I intend to use this as a way of publishing my crafts and what I am currently working on.
For those who don't know me, I'm a 21 year-old student at Philadelphia University. I live in Philly during the week and am in New York City on weekends. I graduate in May of 2010 with a Bachelors degree in Fashion Industry Management.
